Gottfried Abfalterer begins his apprenticeship as a shoemaker with Nikolaus Oberhollenzer (“Tembl Niggl”) in St. Johann. At first, he not only works in the workshop but also travels on the “Stör” (a type of horse-drawn carriage) as was customary at that time, and crafts shoes upon request at the customers’ homes.
